Carsten Sträßer (born July 5, 1980 in East Berlin ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Sträßer began his career as a football player in the youth of 1. FC Union Berlin . After his father, the then GDR national player Ralf Sträßer , moved to FC Carl Zeiss Jena , he started playing in 1986 in the youth department of the Thuringian club. Already in his teenage years he made it to the 1st team in Jena. After two years in the amateur team of Hertha BSC , which began in 1999 after moving from Thuringia to the capital, Sträßer became a regular at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . In 2003, the defensive player moved to the then second division promoted SSV Jahn Regensburg . A year later, Andreas Brehme brought the player to SpVgg Unterhaching , with whom he was relegated to the regional league at the end of the 2006/07 season. Sträßer then went to the second division club FC Erzgebirge Aue and was also relegated. For the 2008/09 season he moved back to FC Carl Zeiss Jena. In the 2010/11 season he joined the northern regional division Chemnitzer FC , with whom he became champions and rose to the third division. For the 2013/14 season he moved to the Regionalliga Südwest to Wormatia Worms , but only stayed there until January 2014. For the second half of the season he joined the ZFC Meuselwitz in the Regionalliga Nordost . Sträßer was active there for two years until the summer of 2016 before he joined FC Einheit Rudolstadt in the NOFV-Oberliga Süd. He ended his playing career in May 2017.

Sträßer went through all the junior national teams of the DFB from the U-15 to the U-20. The native of East Berlin was no longer used in the German U-21 selection .
