politics

The carrier was shaped by his social democratic parental home. In 1995, at the age of 22, Träger joined the SPD. From 2002 he was a member of the Fürth City Council ; he was re-elected in 2008 and from 2008 was deputy parliamentary group leader of the SPD in the Fürth city council.

As a voluntary city councilor, he was a carer for the municipal day-care centers. He was a member of the following committees: Property and Economic Committee, Finance Committee, Environment Committee and Audit Committee (chairman). The carrier has also been chairman of the SPD sub-district of Fürth since 2008. In addition, it is a member of the following organizations: Arbeiterwohlfahrt , Sozialverband VdK Deutschland and Europa-Union Deutschland .

In July 2014, the district assembly of the Central Franconian SPD in Treuchtlingen elected the new district chairman with 41 of 79 votes cast. Bearer prevailed against the rival candidate Stefanie Schäfer from Nuremberg and inherited Christa Naaß in this role after 16 years.

MP

In July 2012, Träger was nominated as a direct candidate of the SPD for the Bundestag constituency of Fürth . On September 22, 2013, he successfully entered the SPD's 11th list for the 18th German Bundestag and entered the Bundestag via the state list. He became the successor of the SPD member of the Bundestag Marlene Rupprecht , who had not run for reasons of age. In the 18th Bundestag , the carrier was a member of the sports committee . As a supporter of the policy of the former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder , Träger is one of the supporters of Schröder's Agenda 2010 .

A renewed entry into the 19th Bundestag did not succeed in the Bundestag election 2017 on September 24th 2017. Due to the poor performance of the SPD in Bavaria and the 19th place on the list of the SPD, the result for re-election was not enough for a mandate in the Bundestag. After the death of SPD-MdB Ewald Schurer , he moved back into the Bundestag as a successor on December 6, 2017.

On January 30, 2018 Carsten Träger was elected environmental policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group.

Carsten Träger has been a member of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly since 2019 .
