Caspar Kirchhoffer

Caspar Kirchhoffer (also: Caspar Kirchhofer , Kaspar Kirchhoff ; * May 24, 1812 in Uetersen ; † 1885 ) was a German doctor and author .

Life

Kirchhoffer was the son of a master dyer of the same name from St. Gallen (Switzerland) and his wife born. Holtz from Altona. He was taught by the rector and theologian Andreas Andresen († 1849), brother of Karl Andresen , who came from Flensburg at the Uetersener Stiftsschule and later attended the grammar school in Altona from Easter 1831 to Easter 1832 as a scholarship holder . Kirchhoffer then studied medicine in Copenhagen and later moved to the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel , where he received his PhD in 1836. med. & chm was awarded a doctorate . Kirchhoffer established himself as a doctor in Uetersen until 1837 and then visited Berlin , Würzburg and, in the winter of 1838, Heidelberg . Visits to Strasbourg and Zurich followed in the spring of 1839, and in the autumn of the same year Kirchhoffer returned to Kiel, where he lived for half a year. From May 1839 Kirchhoffer settled as a doctor in Altona and was at the same time pediatrician and gynecologist of the female association for poor and sick care in Altona, which later became the children's hospital in Altona.

As an author, Kirchhoffer has written several books and essays, as well as essays in various specialist journals.
