history
The Antoninuswall runs over the local area Castlecarys. At the beginning of the 20th century, the remains of a Roman fort were uncovered there. To the east is Tower House Castlecary Castle . It is believed that there was a fortress or moth at its location since the end of the 13th century . Castlecary Castle was finally built in 1485. It is now classified as the highest category A monument.
On December 10, 1937, when there was heavy snowfall and poor visibility near Castlecary, an express train ran into another express train that had stopped. 35 people died.
Castlecary , located in the traditional Scottish county of Stirlingshire , once stretched east to what is now the Unitary Authority of Falkirk. However, the village was divided and the eastern part is now known as Allandale . In 1971 there were 284 people in Castlecary. This meant a population increase compared to 158 inhabitants ten years earlier.
