The Cumbernauld Airport ( ICAO code: EGPG ) is located on the northeastern outskirts of the city of the same in North Lanarkshire in Scotland .
history
The airfield was opened in 1966 and initially only had a grass runway. A permanent runway was built in 1988 and the current station building was inaugurated in August 1989. As of the end of 2016, the airfield serves private and business traffic with small aircraft as well as the interests of the companies located in its vicinity. A regular service is not offered.
Established companies
The operator of the airfield, Cormack Aircraft Services, specializes in the maintenance, refurbishing and trading of feeder aircraft of the type Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander . In addition, other companies from the aviation industry are based in the area of the airport, including several flight schools .
