Ce 'Cile , born Cecile Charlton (born February 24, 1977 in Manchester Parish , Jamaica ) is a musician from Kingston , who is one of the most famous contemporary interpreters of Jamaican dancehall .

biography

Ce'Cile grew up in Porus and Mile Gully in Jamaica and then spent most of her youth in Mandeville , where her grandfather had previously been mayor .

Ce'Cile came to music through a friend of her father's, Michael "Ibo" Cooper of the reggae band Third World, and recorded her first single, Beat Of Her Heart , with him . She then shifted her style from classic reggae to dancehall. In 1995, Steven Ventura , the owner of Celestial Sound Recordings, became aware of them. In the following years she worked for Ventura as a studio manager and recorded other demo tapes. As a background singer , she performed with various bands. She wrote and produced songs with artists such as Jah Mason & Chrisinti.

Ce'Cile had her first major success with the single Can You Do the Work with Sean Paul in 2001, which later appeared on his album Dutty Rock (Atlantic Records), which sold over two million times in the US and received a Grammy was awarded. In 2003 she signed a contract with Delicious Vinyl Records, but where she was not given the opportunity to record her own album. Instead, she released singles in collaboration with other artists. In 2005 she left the label and toured Europe with TOK .

Her first album was released in 2008 on Kingstone Records: Bad Gyal , the first dancehall album that was ever discussed in German Playboy . A promotional photo of Ce'Cile was also shown, but she did not appear as a playmate . In 2009 their second album Waiting was released by Danger Zone / SoBe Entertainment.

She also released Gold Dust with DJ Fresh .

Ce'Cile is known internationally today. Her albums are also sold in Germany and Japan , among others . As a guest singer she has appeared on singles by Sean Paul, Carl Henry , Mono & Nikitaman and D-Flame , among others .
