Dutty Rock is the second studio album by the Jamaican dancehall musician Sean Paul . It was released on November 12, 2002 on the labels VP Records and Atlantic Records . On September 29, 2003, it was re-released including the hit single Baby Boy .

Christopher Chin, Jeremy Harding, Murray Elias and Sean Henriques served as executive producers on the album . A variety of different music producers were involved in the production of the instrumentals , including Mark Ronson , The Neptunes , Lloyd James and Ward 21 . The song Baby Boy included on the re-release was produced by Scott Storch and Beyoncé .
Cover design
The album cover shows Sean Paul, who looks at the viewer seriously and raises his right index finger. The background is in orange-red tones and at the bottom of the picture are the words Sean Paul and Dutty Rock in gray or red.
Guest Posts
In addition to Sean Paul, other artists appear on eight or nine songs on the album. So is beatboxer Rahzel the song Top of the Game to be heard, while the singer Sasha on I'm Still in Love with You is represented. The rapper Busta Rhymes has a guest appearance on Gimmie the Light (Pass the Dro-Voisier Remix) and the track Esa Loca is a collaboration with the rappers Tony Touch and ROBB The singers Ce'Cile and Debi Nova support Sean Paul on the pieces Can You Do the Work or International Affair . Other guest appearances come from Chico ( Ganja Breed ) and Fahrenheit ( Bubble ). The singer Beyoncé can also be heard on the song Baby Boy, which is only included on the re-release .

Chart successes and singles
Dutty Rock entered the German album charts at number 43 on March 31, 2003 and only reached the top position on August 11, 2003 at number 10. In total, it stayed in the top 100 for 54 weeks. In the USA, the album reached number 9 in the charts and stayed in the top 200 for 85 weeks. The album also reached high chart positions in Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain. In the German annual charts for 2003, the sound carrier was ranked 24th.
Five songs from the album were released as singles , all of which reached the top 10 in different countries. Of these, the songs Get Busy and Baby Boy were particularly successful, each taking first place in the United States and receiving gold records in various countries . The other releases Gimme the Light , Like Glue and I'm Still in Love with You also reached high chart positions.

Dutty Rock has sold over 300,000 copies in Germany and thus received a platinum record . The album went double-platinum in the United States for over two million copies and over 600,000 in the UK. Dutty Rock was also awarded gold and platinum in Austria and Switzerland . For over two million units sold across Europe, the album also received a double platinum record.
At the 2004 Grammy Awards , Dutty Rock won the Best Reggae Album category .
