Cecelia Hall

Cecelia Hall is an American sound engineer .

Life

Hall began her career as a film editor , but switched to sound engineering after two films, where she made her debut in John Frankenheimer's horror film Prophecy . As a result, she worked on the first three Star Trek feature films, the first two films from the Beverly Hills Cop series and the dance films Flashdance and Staying Alive . In 1987 she was the first woman who was ever nominated for an Oscar in the category of best sound editing , but could not win the award for Top Gun - you fear neither death nor the devil . In 1991 she received the sound editing Oscar for Hunt for Red October together with George Watters II . For this film, she was also nominated for the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Sound category.

Hall moved into management and rose to Senior Vice President of Post-Production Sound at Paramount Pictures . She taught clay design at the University of California, Los Angeles and was a visiting professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design .
