Cecilia Persson

Cecilia Persson (* 1982 in Nord Åsum ) is a Swedish jazz musician (piano, composition).

Persson received piano training from Maggi Olin at Fridhems Folkhögskola in 2001 and graduated from the Royal Stockholm University of Music from 2004 to 2008 . Together with Sofia Jernberg she directed the septet Paavo , which has released several albums since 2007. In 2014 she released the album Open Rein under her own name , which received good reviews. She worked as composer in residence with the Norrbotten Big Band . As a pianist she has also played with Thus: Owls ( Cardiac Malformations ), with Erika Alexandersson and with Lina Nyberg (most recently The Sirenades ).

In 2012 and 2014 she was awarded the Jazzkatten music prize as “Composer of the Year” by Sveriges Radio . In 2015 she received the Jan Johansson grant.
