Central Islands (Torres Strait)

Central Islands refers to an island region in the Torres Shire administrative district of the Australian state of Queensland . The area includes several Torres Strait Islands in the middle and east of the Torres Strait waterway .

There are many small islands in the region . These include Zagai , Yam Island , Yorke Island , Coconut Island and Sue Island as well as the uninhabited Bourke Islands .

The largest island in the Central Islands in terms of area is the uninhabited Sassie Island .
