Cerbia ( German Serbs , Hungarian Cserbia ) is a village in the Hunedoara district in Transylvania , Romania . It is part of the Zam community .
Geographical location
Cerbia is located in the western part of the historical region of Transylvania , south of the Zarand Mountains ( Munții Zarandului ). The village is located about five kilometers north of the community center Zam and about 53 kilometers northwest of the district capital Deva ( Diemrich ).
history
The place Cerbia was first mentioned in a document in 1468. The residents live primarily from agriculture and livestock. Furthermore, there are pyrite and molybdenum mines in a granite area with non-ferrous metal ores .
population
Since the census of 1850, Romanians (except for one Ukrainian in 1966 ) have been registered in the area of the place . In 1850 there were 319 people in Cerbia. The highest number of inhabitants was registered in 1900 (440), since then it has steadily decreased. In 2002 there were 137 inhabitants.

- The wooden church, built in the 18th century, is not a listed building.
