Cetearyl isononanoate , also cetyl stearyl isononanoate , is a chemical compound from the group of carboxylic acid esters . It is a wax made from vegetable raw materials. It is a mixture of esters of isononanoic acid (mainly 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoic acid) with cetearyl alcohol .

Cetearyl isononanoate is used as an emollient in cosmetics. The chemically related cetyl isononanoate is used in a similar manner .

In rare cases, cetearyl isononanoate has a contact allergenic effect.
