Abetone Cutigliano is an Italian municipality with 2033 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Pistoia , in the Tuscany region .

Location of Abetone Cutigliano in the Province of Pistoia

Abetone Cutigliano is located at 678 m about 27 km northwest of the provincial capital Pistoia and about 60 km northwest of the regional capital Florence . The municipality is located in the landscape of the Val di Lima on the Lima river and in the climatic classification of Italian municipalities in zone E, 2 901 GG.

The districts include Abetone , Bicchiere di Sopra , Boscolungo , Casotti , Cecchetto , Consuma , Cutigliano , Doganaccia , Fontana Vaccaia , La Secchia , Melo , Pian degli Ontani , Pian dei Sisi , Pian di Novello , Pianosinaticretto , Ponte Sestaione , Rivoreta and Seroreta .

The neighboring municipalities are Bagni di Lucca ( LU ), Coreglia Antelminelli (LU), Fanano ( MO ), Fiumalbo (MO) and San Marcello Piteglio .

history

The municipality was created on January 1, 2017 by merging the previously independent municipalities Abetone and Cutigliano. In the referendum on November 29 and 30, 2015, 63.67% (56.12% voter turnout) in Abetone voted against the merger, in Cutigliano 91.70% in favor of the merger (50.32% turnout). Despite the negative vote in Abetone, the Commissione Affari istituzionali del Consiglio regional della Toscana decided on January 12, 2016 to merge the municipalities. The law merging the two municipalities is Legge Regionale n.1 of January 25, 2016. The town hall is in Cutigliano.
