Chachacomani is a town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Chachacomani is the central place of the canton Chachacomani , one of three cantons of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Turco in the province of Sajama . Chachacomani is located on the western edge of the Oruro department at an altitude of 4249  m twelve kilometers from the Chilean border, on the left northern bank of the Río Chohokho , which flows southeast of the village into the Río Sajama . Is west of Chachacomani at a distance of ten kilometers of Stratovolcano Acotango that with a height of 6.052 m to Quimsachata belongs -Vulkangruppe.

Chachacomani is located on the Bolivian Altiplano on the eastern slopes of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Occidental . The region has a typical daytime climate in which the mean fluctuation in daytime temperatures is greater than the mean seasonal fluctuations.

From Oruro, the 169-kilometer unpaved road Ruta 31 leads west via La Joya to Curahuara de Carangas . It meets the paved Ruta 4 directly north of Curahuara , which comes from Patacamaya , 96 kilometers away , a town on Ruta 1 , halfway between the government seat of La Paz and Oruro. From Curahuara the Ruta 4 leads 93 kilometers in a south-westerly direction to Tambo Quemado , the border town on the Chilean border. Directly in front of the gas station at the entrance to the village, a dirt road branches off in a southerly direction and after twelve kilometers reaches Chachacomani .
