Ahmed Abou-Chaker (born January 9, 1983 ) is a dealer in precious metals , furs and antiques .

Life

Ahmed Abou-Chaker claims to be part of a family of merchants from Dubai , which is now in its third generation specializing in precious metal trading. Focus magazine describes him as a family member of the Berlin Abou Chaker clan . Compared to the Bild newspaper , he had distanced himself from the criminal activities of the family association. In his shop in the Bergmannkiez district of Berlin-Kreuzberg , he sells gold, jewelry, furs and antiques.

Abou-Chaker gained national fame in 2017 through his appearances as a retailer in four programs of the eighth season of the ZDF television series Bares for Rares . An article in the Bild newspaper from January 16, 2018 quoted Abou-Chaker with criticism of the series, whereupon other parts of the German press took up this message. The ZDF then stated that further broadcast dates with Abou-Chaker were not planned. In his presentation, Abou-Chaker was disappointed with the reporting of the Bild newspaper, in which his statements in the interview were taken out of context and presented in a misleading manner.
