Charles Edgar McClelland (born July 29, 1940 in San Antonio , Texas ) is an American historian who works particularly in the field of educational and professional history .

Live and act

Charles E. McClelland studied at Princeton University , Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and Yale University , where he received his Ph.D. attained. He taught at Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania and, from 1974, at the University of New Mexico (UNM). He was director of the "European Studies Program" at UNM and President of the American Association of University Professors in New Mexico.

In 1997 he retired and devoted himself to further scientific work in Germany. As part of the Fulbright Program and as a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation , he worked on the six-volume edition of the history of the University of Unter den Linden, published by Heinz-Elmar Tenorth , 1810–2010 . During this time he was also a Fellow of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research . Since 2010 he has taught at the University of Texas Faculty of Medicine at Galveston (UTMB).
