Charles-Samuel Girardet [ ʒiʀaʀˈdɛ ] (born November 2 or 24, 1780 in Le Locle , † 1863 in Versailles ) was a French engraver and lithographer from Switzerland .

Charles Girardet was a member of the Girardet family of artists , he was a son of the publisher Samuel Girardet and brother of Abraham Girardet . In 1805 he went to Paris, where he learned from his brother Abraham. He engraved his first leaves from 1805 to 1809 for the Etrennes Helvétiques . In 1811/12 he learned the then still young technique of lithography, to which he soon switched completely. From 1813 to 1822 he lived in his home town of Le Locle, then back in Paris.

In 1831 he won the 1st prize of the Société d'encouragement à l'industrie nationale de Paris and the following year the gold medal 1st class for the use of lithography in letterpress printing.

His sons Karl , Edouard and Paul were also artistically active.
