Girardet (artist family)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Girardet family was an artist family of copper engravers, wood cutters and painters from Le Locle in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland and mainly active in France . Ancestor was the publisher Samuel Girardet .

The members of the family were highly technical but are said to have lacked creativity. As artists they are largely forgotten today, only the documentary value of their works is valued, in Switzerland they are only known at local level in Le Locle, where they were memorialized in 1948.
