Henri Girardet
Léopold-Henri Girardet (born September 21, 1848 in Brienz BE , † December 10, 1917 in Neuchâtel ) was a French-Swiss painter , sculptor , engraver and lithographer .
Henri Girardet came from the Girardet family of artists . His father Edouard Girardet (1819–1880) was a painter and engraver from Switzerland. Henri came to Paris with his family as a child in 1857.
Henri Girardet received drawing lessons from his father and then worked mainly for the art dealer Adolphe Goupil , for whose magazine "Le Magasin pittoresque" he provided illustrations. He lived in Paris and traveled through France, North Africa and Italy. Since 1874 he exhibited his works at the Paris salons . In 1887 he was forced to live in Switzerland again for financial reasons, first in Brienz, then in Neuchâtel.
