Charles Michael Jarrell (born May 15, 1940 in Opelousas ) is an American clergyman and emeritus bishop of Lafayette .

Life

Charles Michael Jarrell was ordained a priest on June 3, 1967 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Houma-Thibodaux on May 8, 1990 . The Archbishop of New Orleans , Francis Schulte , ordained him episcopal on March 4 of the next year ; Co - consecrators were Warren Louis Boudreaux , former Bishop of Houma-Thibodaux, and Gerard Louis Frey , emeritus Bishop of Lafayette.

On November 8, 2002, he was also appointed Bishop of Lafayette by Pope John Paul II and was introduced to the office on December 18 of the same year.

His resignation on February 17, 2016 was approved by Pope Francis .
