The novel Power Kill was awarded the Best Book of the Year Award by the Missouri Writers Guild in 1973 , and the novel was also nominated for the Edgar Allan Poe Award in the same year . The horror novel Soulmate (1974), in which a prostitute becomes a victim of obsession, has been translated into German as The Bride of the Parasite .
