Chelo Alonso

Chelo Alonso (actually Isabel Apolonia García Hernández; born April 10, 1933 in Lugareño , Camaguez ; † February 20, 2019 in Mentana , Italy ) was a Cuban dancer and actress .

Life

Alonso started dancing at a young age; She had great success on tours that took her outside of her home to other Caribbean states, then to the USA to Miami and Broadway and finally to the Folies Bergère in Paris , where she was announced as the "new Josephine Baker ".

When mythological film experienced a boom in Italy, Alonso's exotic appearance opened the door to a film career. She was given numerous opportunities to play femme fatale or barbarian girls in addition to dancing ; In 1959 it was “Discovery of the Year” in Italy . In 1962 she interrupted her film career to devote herself to television appearances, record a few records and even appear on a cooking show. Three last film appearances, including well-known films such as Two Glorious Scoundrels or Run for Your Life , took place in spaghetti westerns . In 1970 she was last seen on the screen.

After the death of her husband, the producer Aldo Pomilia , she devoted herself to running a small restaurant in Siena and raising her son Aldino.
