Chelsea Vanessa Peretti (born February 20, 1978 in Contra Costa County , California ) is an American comedian , actress and screenwriter of Italian descent. She became famous for her portrayal of Gina Linetti from the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine .

Early years

Chelsea Peretti is from Contra Costa County, California, where she was born to a Christian father and a Jewish mother and later grew up in the city of Oakland . Her older brother Jonah Peretti is a well-known Internet personality in the United States as the founder of BuzzFeed and the co-founder of the Huffington Post .

Peretti attended high school in Oakland before moving to New York City in 1996 to study at Barnard College , which she graduated in 2000. Peretti attended the same elementary school with her future Brooklyn Nine-Nine colleague Andy Samberg .

Career

To advance her career, Peretti moved to Los Angeles , where she has worked as an actress and comedian ever since. She took one of her first roles in 2004 in an episode of the Comedy Lab series . Other roles soon followed through appearances such as in The Sarah Silverman Program , Parks and Recreation , Louie and The Couple . From 2013 to 2015 Peretti joined occasionally in the Kroll Show radio station Comedy Central on.

She was able to increase her fame mainly through the role of Gina Linetti from the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine , in which she has been seen since 2013. She also played this role in an episode of New Girl . From 2011 to 2015 she voiced her voice to various characters in China, IL . She did the same for some video games, including Grand Theft Auto IV .

In addition to her acting and stage work, Peretti is also a screenwriter, including several episodes of Saturday Night Live , the Kroll Show and Parks and Recreation .

Personal

Peretti has been dating actor and director Jordan Peele since 2013 . After the engagement in November 2015, they married on April 26, 2016. On July 1, 2017, a son was born.
