Big Mouth is an American comedy - animated series from Netflix from the year 2017. The series now includes thirty-one episodes and was first on 29 September 2017 Netflix, both in English as German synchronization , published. The second season has been available on Netflix since October 5, 2018. Like the first season, this consists of ten episodes. A Valentine's special with a double duration was published on February 8, 2019, the third season on October 4, 2019. In July 2019, the series was extended by a fourth, fifth and sixth season.
On June 24th, 2020 it was announced that Jenny Slate will no longer dub Missy Foreman-Greenwald. After increasing protests against the social disadvantage of black American citizens, it was agreed with Jenny Slate that it was a mistake not to cast the role with an African-American actress. Jenny Slate's final dubbing for Missy will be in season four as she pre-recorded her lines. From the fifth season, Missy receives a new voice.

The series is based on the experiences of authors friends Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg in their youth in the suburbs of New York . The people are represented as children. The events and thoughts during puberty are presented in a surreal and humorous way and result in embarrassment . An instinct-controlled hormone monster becomes a companion who always appears in hormone-related needs. The protagonists here are the often sexually aroused Andrew, Nick who has not yet reached puberty, their friend Jessi, who is on her way to becoming a woman, the magician and friend of the three Jay, the pitiful sports teacher Steve, and Missy, Andrew's secret love, and several hormone monsters.
It is set up in the form of a sitcom .

The series was conceived by comedy writer Nick Kroll and Family Guy writer Andrew Goldberg, who have been friends since they were young, and the writer couple Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett . The producers speak their own roles, and many speakers speak multiple characters in the original English.

The series was mostly positively received. On Metacritic , the series achieved a Metascore of 80%. Moviepilot compares the plot to a coming-of-age film , which, however, does without innocent depictions of the people.
