Jordan Peele
Jordan Haworth Peele (born February 21, 1979 in New York City ) is an American film actor , comedian , director and screenwriter . His directorial debut Get Out was nominated in four categories at the 2018 Academy Awards. Peele himself was nominated for best director and awarded for best original screenplay.
Life
Jordan Peele was born in New York City in 1979 . In March 1994, as a teenager, Peele appeared in the ABC News Special President Clinton Answering Children's Questions , in which then-US President Bill Clinton answered children's questions. The question Peele asked him on the show related to the possibility of government support for single women if the father refuses to pay for childcare, which reflected his own family situation. Peele's mother is white and his father is black, a circumstance that Peele pointed out in a number of his skits.
Peele attended computer school, later he went to Calhoun School in New York, where he graduated from high school in 1997, and then attended Sarah Lawrence College in Westchester County , where he graduated in 2001.
Peele made his debut as a screenwriter in 2003 in the television series MADtv , and made his acting debut in 2006 in the television film Al TV . He is a member of the improvisational theater and comedy group Boom Chicago , played then-President Barack Obama in the 2008 miniseries Obama , and played Martin Luther King and Muhammad Ali in the web video series Epic Rap Battles of History .
Together with Keegan-Michael Key , Peele forms the comedy duo Key & Peele , which appeared in a television series of the same name on Comedy Central from 2012 to 2015. The duo were on Time Magazine 's list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2014 .
Peele's directorial debut Get Out , a horror thriller that he presented at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2017 , received above-average reviews from critics. Peele also wrote the script for the film. The Hollywood Reporter's John DeFore says the film proves that Peele has many career opportunities if he is tired of being in front of the camera in comedies. With Get Out , Peele became the first African-American director and screenwriter to achieve gross profits of more than 100 million US dollars with his debut film, making film history in the United States. The film was nominated in four categories at the 2018 Academy Awards. Peele himself was nominated for best director and awarded for best original screenplay.
In May 2017, it was announced that Peele's production company Monkeypaw, JJ Abrams ' Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television would be adapting a series of Matt Ruff's horror novel Lovecraft Country for HBO .
In the movie Captain Underpants , which hit US cinemas in June 2017, Peele speaks one of the main characters by the name of Melvin Sneedly.
In late June 2017, Peele became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
Peele had been dating actress and stand-up comedian Chelsea Peretti since 2013 . After the engagement in November 2015, they married on April 26, 2016. In July 2017, a son was born.
