action

The passionate players Max and Annie meet at a competition, fall in love and get married shortly afterwards. During Max and Annie's game night with friends Ryan, Kevin and his wife Michelle, Max's successful but conceited brother Brooks shows up in a Corvette Stingray and tells everyone an embarrassing story about Max from their childhood. Annie finds Brooks extremely uncomfortable and promises to stick with Max and then defeat Brooks at the upcoming game night in his rented house. Max and Annie try to keep their game nights a secret from their neighbor Gary, the ex-husband of Max and Annie's friend Debbie, because they don't want to invite him over to their home.

When the guests arrive at Brooks, the host explains that he has organized an interactive role-playing game and that the winner is waving his Stingray as a prize. After a while, two masked men break in and raid and attack Brooks. The guests, who believe it is part of the game, just stand by and watch. After Brooks is dragged out of the house, the couples begin to solve the mystery with the clues.

Max and Annie follow Brooks to a bar using the GPS position of his cell phone. Using a pistol that Brooks left behind during the fight, they gain access to the storage room where Brooks is being held. When Annie fires the gun and shoots Max in the arm, Max and Annie understand that the kidnapping is not part of the game. The three escape, and Brooks admits to making a living as a fence and smuggler . Brooks is captured again. Brooks promised a man known as a Bulgarian to get a special Fabergé egg , which he ultimately gave to a higher bidder using the pseudonym Marlon Freeman. Max promises the kidnappers to bring the egg and finds out that Marlon Freeman's real name is Donald Anderton. He finds out the address of his villa . The group around Max and Annie are searching the house when Ryan suddenly discovers the egg in a safe. The group escapes with the egg, but accidentally breaks it while driving. The egg turns out to be a fake , but they discover a list of names from the witness protection program in it.

Brooks and his kidnappers wait on a bridge to be handed over. Before the group is killed, they are rescued by Gary, who is shot in the chest. Gary reveals that he faked the scenario with the two kidnappers, two paroled criminals, to get Max and Annie to invite him back over to game nights. At that moment, the Bulgarian appears, shoots Gary and kidnaps Brooks. He drives to an airport and wants to escape there with his plane. Max and Annie follow the Bulgarian and can free Brooks.

Brooks invites the playgroup, now with Gary, to his home, as he has to stay at home with an ankle cuff, and reveals to his brother that he is selling the list on the black market for three million US dollars, but that the witnesses have been warned against payment have. Annie announces she is pregnant during the game, while men outside with guns prepare to storm the apartment.

During the credits, Gary's plan for how to get back into the game group is shown. After the credits , you can see Debbie meeting Kenny, an old date of Michelle, at a gas station.
