Chen Changzhi ( Chinese  陈昌智 ; * July 1945 in Xiaogan , Hubei ) is a Chinese economist , university professor and politician of the Chinese Society for Democratic National Construction , who was chairman of the Chinese Society for Democratic National Construction between 2007 and 2017 and from 2008 was Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress until 2018 .

Life

Chen Changzhi, who belongs to the Han ethnic group , began to study at the Economics Faculty of Sichuan University after attending school and graduated in 1968. Between 1970 and 1971, he initially worked as a teacher at a middle school in Jinyang County and then from 1972 to 1977 worked for the county’s Department of Culture and Education, before teaching at the Jinyang County Teacher Training School from 1978 to 1979 . He then completed postgraduate studies at Sichuan University from 1979 to 1981 and then worked as a lecturer at Sichuan University between 1981 and 1988.

Chen Changzhi, who became a member of the Chinese Society for Democratic National Construction (CNDCA) in 1985 , took up a professorship at Sichuan University in 1988. He was also 1988-1997 Secretary General and Vice-Chairman of the CNDCA in the province of Sichuan. At the same time, he served as Deputy Secretary General of the Provincial Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People in Sichuan Province from 1988 to 1997, and Deputy Director of the Disciplinary Oversight Office of Sichuan Province from 1994 to 1997. He was then chairman of the CNDCA of Sichuan Province between 1997 and 1998 and at the same time a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Chinese Society for Democratic National Construction. He also served briefly in 1998 as Vice-Chairman of the Provincial Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People in Sichuan Province and, between 1998 and 1993, as a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Provincial Committees of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People.

In 1998, Chen Changzhi also became vice minister in the Ministry of Disciplinary Oversight, and held that office until 2003. At the same time, he was first vice-chairman of the CNDCA's central committee from 2002 to 2007, before replacing Cheng Siwei as chairman of the central committee of the Chinese Society for National Democratic Development in 2007 , and thus as chairman of one of eight bloc parties outside the Chinese Communist Party . He held this position for ten years until 2017, after which Hao Mingjin succeeded him. At the same time he was from 2008 to 2018 also ten years Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress .
