Cheryl Carasik

Cheryl A. Carasik (* 1952 ) is an American production designer .

Life

Carasik began her film career in 1985 as a set designer for the action film Time of Retribution . In 1988, while still an outfitter, she worked with Tim Burton on Beetlejuice for the first time . Burton hired her as a set designer for two of his films in the early 1990s, Edward Scissorhands and Batman's Return . In 1996 she received her first nomination for an Oscar for the film drama Little Princess by director Alfonso Cuarón , and the following year she received her second nomination for the film comedy The Birdcage - A Paradise for Shrill Birds . In the same year she worked for the first time with Barry Sonnenfeld , who subsequently engaged her for several of his films; including Men in Black and Lemony Snicket, Carasik each received another Oscar nomination. In the mid-2000s, she worked on the pirate films Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean, At World's End , and received her fifth Oscar nomination in 2007. However, she was never able to accept the award.
