Gates McFadden
Cheryl Gates McFadden (born March 2, 1949 in Cuyahoga Falls , Ohio ) is an American actress and choreographer .
Life
McFadden was born in Cuyahoga Falls , Ohio, in 1949. Her maternal family is of Lithuanian ancestry. She later moved to Paris, where she studied theater and acting with the theater teacher Jacques Lecoq . McFadden then attended Brandeis University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in theater studies .
Still under her name Cheryl McFadden , she had a small supporting role as a secretary in the film The Muppets Conquer Manhattan in 1984 . She became famous for her role as a doctor Dr. Beverly Crusher in the series Starship Enterprise: The Next Century . Since her role did not develop as Gene Roddenberry had imagined, her role in the second season of the series was written out and was replaced by Diana Muldaur . After her role as the new ship doctor Dr. Katherine Pulaski , who are more closely related to Dr. Leonard McCoy should tie in, had proven unpopular with the television audience, McFadden returned to the series after a personal request at the beginning of the third season. At FedCon 2006, she said about her role as Beverly Crusher that she would have liked it to be a little more humorous.
In 1990 she played a supporting role as Caroline Ryan in the movie The Hunt for Red October . After the end of Starship Enterprise: The Next Century , she starred in a supporting role in the short-lived television series Hot Plaster Hawaii in 1995 .
She worked as a choreographer for the fantasy film Die Reise ins Labyrinth , for which she worked out the ball sequence and the battle in the goblin city, for example. As the first female lead in a Star Trek series, she also directed an episode ( Season 7 , episode Genesis ).
She is married to John Cleveland Talbot; together they have a son (born June 10, 1991).
