Chiari (Austrian family)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chiari is the name of an extensive, originally Italian family that came to Austria in the 18th century . Some branches of the family were elevated to the status of Austrian baron in 1908 and 1917 respectively .

history

The Chiari family comes from Bergamo . The sons of Thomas Claudius Chiari, kuk post administrator in Trient , went to Vienna and worked there as lawyers and doctors, later they also obtained political offices.

Karl Chiari (1849–1912) was raised to the hereditary Austrian baron status on November 30, 1908 (diploma Vienna March 12, 1909) by Emperor Franz Joseph as a factory and estate owner in Mährisch-Schönberg , he was also a member of the House of Representatives of the Austrian Imperial Council and the mansion . This baron status was transferred to Ottokar Chiari (1853-1918) on March 14, 1917 (diploma Vienna April 30, 1917) with the approval of Emperor Karl I, together with the coat of arms awarded in 1908 .

On September 19, 1917 (diploma Vienna October 18, 1917) the Austro-Hungarian Vice-Admiral Arthur Chiari (1851-1919) was raised to the status of Austrian baron.

After the end of the monarchy in Austria-Hungary , the parliament of the Republic of German-Austria decided on April 3, 1919, to abolish the nobility. As a result of this nobility annulment law , the members of the Chiari family living in Austria also lost the right to use their titles.
