Guido Schmidt-Chiari

Guido Nikolaus Schmidt-Chiari (born September 13, 1932 in Vienna ; † August 21, 2016 in St. Anton am Arlberg , Tyrol ) was an Austrian bank manager .

Life

Guido Schmidt-Chiari in 1956 at the University of Vienna Dr. iur. PhD. In 1952 he worked for the Brazilian subsidiary of Alpine-Montan in Rio de Janeiro . In 1953 he set up the branch of the sales company for products of the Jenbacher works in São Paulo . In 1957 he joined the Belgian American Banking Corporation in New York.

In 1958, Guido Schmidt-Chiari became an employee of Creditanstalt in Vienna. In 1971 he was appointed to the board and in 1988 he was appointed general director . Under the leadership of Schmidt-Chiari, the results of the Creditanstalt Group have been continuously improved. Thus, the increased net income after taxes from 1991 to 1997 of 1.2 billion shillings to 5.8 billion shillings, the return on equity of 6% to 19.2%. Creditanstalt was by far the most profitable bank in Austria. In the course of the takeover of Creditanstalt by Bank Austria , Schmidt-Chiari resigned in 1997.

He was one of three children of Guido Schmidt and Maria Chiari. Guido Schmidt-Chiari was born with Stephanie Countess Strachwitz married and had six children.
