Chiripa is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The village of Chiripa is located in the canton of Taraco in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Taraco in the province of Ingavi at an altitude of 3851 m on Lake Titicaca . The village gave its name to the archaeological site Chiripa , which stretches from Chiripa along the northern shore of the Taraco peninsula, which lies in the southern section of the lake called Wiñaymarka .
geography
Chiripa is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the Andean dry climate of the Altiplano and has been affected by significant water level fluctuations in the lake over the past three millennia. The region's climate is typical of the time of day , with the mean temperature fluctuation during the day being more pronounced than during the course of the seasons.
The mean annual precipitation is about 580 mm, the monthly values fluctuate between under 15 mm in the months of June to August and between 100 and 120 mm from December to February. Transport network
Chiripa is 94 kilometers by road west of La Paz , the capital of the department.
From La Paz the paved road Ruta 2 leads thirteen kilometers west to El Alto , from there Ruta 1 over forty kilometers to the southwest via Laja to Lloko Lloko . At Lloko Lloko a dirt road branches off to the northwest and after another forty kilometers reaches Chiripa .

Due to the historical development, the region has a high proportion of Aymara population, in the municipality of Tiahuanacu 95.7 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
