Cho So-hyun (born June 24, 1988 ) is a South Korean soccer player who has played for the women's team of West Ham United in the FA Women's Premier League since 2019 . She also represents South Korea on an international level as a national player and team captain.
Career
society
Cho, who started playing soccer in her middle school years, started her career with the South Korean clubs Suwon UDC WFC and Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels . In 2016 she was awarded to the INAC Kobe Leonessa association in Japan .
In 2018 she moved to Avaldsnes IL in Norway . For the club Cho played 20 games, but came to no goal. After only one season in the Norwegian league, Cho joined the women's football team at West Ham United . Cho made her FA Women's Premier League debut on January 13, 2019 against the Manchester City Women's Football Club , when she came on for Dutch player Lucienne Reichardt in the 61st minute . West Ham United lost the game 3-1. On January 28, Cho started for the first time in their team's 1-0 defeat by Liverpool LFC . In this game, Cho played for her new team for the first time.
In 2015 she was named South Korea's Player of the Year.
National team
Cho has been a member of the national team since 2007 and represented her country in both the 2015 and 2019 Women's World Cup . There she played through in all three group games against France , Nigeria and Norway and received a yellow card. Cho is considered the most experienced player in the South Korean squad and is mostly used as a defensive midfielder. Their strengths are seen in supporting the defense, in one-on-one situations, in closing gaps and in setting the pace of the game.
She was also part of the South Korean squad for the 2010 and 2014 Asian Women's Soccer Cup , where the team finished fourth.
