Choren Ohanessjan ( Armenian Խորեն Օհանեսյան , in scientific transliteration Xoren O̅hanesyan; internationally known as Russian Хорен Георгиевич Оганесян , Choren Georgievich Oganessjan ; born January 10, 1955 in Yerevan ) is a former Soviet - Armenian football player . The UEFA uses the Anglo-Russian mixed transcription Khoren Oganesian or Oganessian.

In the national team of the USSR he was active from 1978 to 1984. In 1982 he played for the national team at the World Cup in Spain , where he made three appearances in the preliminary and intermediate rounds and scored the decisive goal in the 1-0 win over Belgium . He was also a member of the Soviet selection, 1980 in Moscow at the Olympic football tournament took part and won the bronze medal. In 1989 he was used again in an unofficial game, the farewell game of Oleh Blochin , in Sbornaja for 15 minutes in Kiev against a world team coached by DFB team boss Franz Beckenbauer .

At club level he played from 1974 to 1985 for FC Ararat Yerevan for which he completed almost 300 games. After separating from the club in a dispute, he played for other Soviet clubs, including the Soviet first division team Paxtakor Tashkent from Uzbekistan and then, when Armenia became independent in 1991, with Homenetmen Yerevan . Homenetmen shared the first championship title with Shirak Gyumri . The club, which has since been renamed Pyunik Yerevan, is now the Armenian record champion. In 2003, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of UEFA, he was voted Golden Player, the best player in Armenia for the past 50 years.
