Christopher Lynn Boswell (born March 16, 1991 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American football player in the position of the kicker . He currently plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL).
Early years
Boswell went to high school in his native Fort Worth . He later attended Rice University .
NFL
Houston Texans
Boswell was signed by the Houston Texans after the 2014 NFL Draft . However, he could not prevail against the then kicker of the Texans, Randy Bullock , so that he was released on August 29, 2014. On September 23, 2014, he was added to the Texans Practice Squad.
New York Giants
On January 7, 2015, Boswell signed a contract with the New York Giants . He was released on August 16, but re-signed on September 2. However, on September 5, 2015, he was released again.
Pittsburgh Steelers
On October 3, 2015, Boswell signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers . In his first ever NFL game, he scored three field goals . The following week he turned four field goals in four attempts against the Arizona Cardinals , including a 51 yard field goal, his personal best up to that point. In the 2015 AFC Wild Card game against the Cincinnati Bengals , he scored four field goals, making him the youngest kicker to succeed in a postseason game. In the 2017 divisional playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs , he set a new NFL record with 6 successful field goals in a postseason game . On November 27, 2017, in the game against the Green Bay Packers , he scored a decisive 53-yard field goal for a 31:28 victory. He was elected to the Pro Bowl for his achievements . However , he struggled in the 2018 season . He only scored 43 out of 48 extra points (89.6%) and 13 out of 20 field goals. In Week 12 in the game against the Denver Broncos, he threw a touchdown. After Matchday 16, he was put on the Injured Reserve List . The 2019 season went better for Chris Boswell after the mixed 2018 season. In 31 field goal attempts, he scored 29 and all 28 extra points.
