Chris Thomale (* 1982 ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

After high school in 2001 at the Gymnasium Neureut (Karlsruhe), he graduated from in 2001 and 2002 in Goose Bay to military service in the Air Force, principally as a high school teacher. He studied from 2002 to 2003 and from 2005 to 2006 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg : studying law and philosophy, from 2003 to 2004 at Clare College , University of Cambridge (England): studying as an official exchange student at Heidelberg University and from 2004 until 2005 at the Université de Genève / Institut de hautes études internationales et du développement (Switzerland): Acquisition of the Certificat de Droit Transnational (CDT). In 2007 he passed the first state examination in law in the state of Baden-Württemberg. In 2009 he started the legal preparatory service of the state of Baden-Württemberg in the regional court district of Heidelberg with an elective position at the Federal Constitutional Court . In 2011 he was a research assistant at the chair for civil law, international corporate law and European business law at the University of Mannheim . After the second state examination in 2011 in the state of Baden-Württemberg, the doctorate in 2011 as Dr. iur. from the Free University of Berlin and the diploma with distinction in 2011 from the Hague Academy for International Law , he was a research assistant at the Chair of Civil Law, Commercial and Business Law at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg from 2011 to 2013. From 2013 to 2014 he stayed at Yale Law School : research stay and study ( LL.M. ). From 2014 to 2018 he was academic advisor at the Institute for Comparative and International Private and Business Law, University of Heidelberg; Equal Opportunities Officer of the Faculty (since April 2015). He was a visiting professor at Elon Law School in 2016 and a visiting professor at Universidade Federal Fluminense in 2016 . After the habilitation 2017 (June 21, 2017, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg); Venia legendi : He taught civil law, international private law, commercial and company law, civil procedural law, legal philosophy and comparative law as a visiting professor at the Georgetown School of Law in 2017 . In 2018 he had a teaching position at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . From 2018 to 2019 he represented the chair for civil, commercial and corporate law at the University of Bremen . Since March 2019 he has been Professor of International Corporate and Commercial Law at the Institute for Corporate and Commercial Law at the University of Vienna .
