Christer Lindqvist

Christer Lindqvist (born July 26, 1963 in Eskilstuna , Sweden ) is a linguist and Scandinavian . He is currently professor of Scandinavian linguistics at the Institute for Fen and Scandinavian Studies at the University of Greifswald .

Life

Lindqvist studied at Uppsala University in Sweden and at Freiburg University in Germany. He received a scholarship from Rotary International and the German Academic Exchange Service .

In 1991 he received his doctorate at the University of Freiburg, whereupon in 1997 he received his habilitation in "Germanic Philology" and "North Germanic Philology". After serving as professorships in Freiburg and Greifswald, he has been professor of Scandinavian linguistics at the University of Greifswald since 2000 .

Research and Teaching

His main focus is the Scandinavian languages , i. H. Danish , Icelandic , Norwegian ( Bokmål , Nynorsk ), Swedish and Faroese as well as Norn , which was spoken on the Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands until the 18th century . Furthermore, this includes the phonology and orthography of all Scandinavian languages, comparative linguistics , language change , translation theory and language ideology.
