In 1605 he advanced to field marshal and in 1609 took part in Jakob De la Gardie's procession to Moscow , which led to the Ingrian War . It was during the Kalmar War governor of Kalmar , which he in Denmark handed and appeared as General transgressed in Danish services. Christian IV lent him the Rohlstorf estate in 1614 , where he was murdered four years later.

Somme was well known in Sweden for a long time after his death because of the surrender of Kalmar and his transfer to Denmark and was regarded as a symbol or synonym of treason . The departure of a Swedish field marshal in this way was unique.
