The church

The Protestant village church Rietdorf is a late Romanesque field stone church in Rietdorf , a district of the municipality of Ihlow in the Teltow-Fläming district in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Zossen Fläming the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The Rietdorf street spans the lenticular village green , which extends in a north-west-south-east direction. The church stands in the middle of this property with a church cemetery which is enclosed with a fence .

history

The building was built in the first half of the 13th century. It apparently remained largely undamaged in the Thirty Years' War . Many windows were enlarged in the 18th century. In 1954 the interior was restored, but the church furnishings were largely preserved.

Building description

The complete system was essentially made of field stones that were hewn and layered in layers. The semicircular apse is strongly indented and has three small arched windows that could still come from the construction period. This is followed by the choir . He is straight and also moved in. The end of the choir has no windows and the eastern gable is made of mixed masonry. On the north side there are two narrow arched windows, which should also still be original. Opposite it is on the south side a " baroque " enlarged, pressed-segment arch-shaped window. Below the south window is an arched priest gate , which should also come from the construction period.

This is followed by the nave . It has a rectangular floor plan and on the north side also three presumably original windows. The south side was also redesigned in baroque style. There are two large arched windows that extend almost the entire height of the long wall. In between there is an ogival parish gate and above it an enlarged Baroque window. The choir and nave have a simple gable roof .

The church tower is square and drawn in opposite the nave. In contrast to the apse, choir and nave, it was built from rather uncut field stones, which were not so layered. Access is from the south via a portal with cup stones ; the rest of the building is windowless. In the bell storey there are two individual sound arcades on the north and south sides ; they are coupled on the west and east sides. The openings were bordered with reddish brick. The tower has a simple hipped roof with a cross.

Furnishing

The altarpiece was created in the first half of the 17th century and consists of an architectural structure with rich fittings. Between the two double pillars there is a picture in the altar panel showing Jesus Christ . The side cheeks were stylized as eagles. It is noticeable that the predella does not depict the Lord's Supper . Rather, it is a representation of the Passover meal, with which Judaism celebrates the Exodus from Egypt . The wooden pulpit with sound cover probably dates from the end of the 17th century and was probably decorated with the pictures of the four evangelists at an earlier time . The church also features a baroque fifth in the form of a baluster and a sacrament niche in the apse with a late Gothic painting.

An organ from the mid-19th century stands on the baroque horseshoe gallery .

The interior of the building is flat, except for the apse dome . The triumphal and apse arches are pointed arch.
