public perception

There were tensions between the former rector Thomas Strothotte and Blomeyer, which also received attention in the regional and national press. Rector Strothotte was not re-elected by the University Council of Regensburg University in 2012 and had to resign after his term of office.

Christian Blomeyer and Wolfgang Schäfers , Professor of Real Estate Management at the University of Regensburg, came under fire in August 2013 because Blomeyer approved an application from Schäfers about his position as CEO of IVG AG in the form of a sideline. The legitimacy of this authorization and the responsibility of the Chancellor have been questioned in the media. Schäfers had already been on leave for six years out of a total of nine years at the University of Regensburg, so that no further leave of absence was possible.
