Christian Breuer (born November 3, 1976 in Krefeld ) is a former German speed skater . He is police chief commissioner in the German federal police and has a degree in administrative management (FH) .
Christian Breuer has become German champion 15 times in the past few years and has set a total of 16 German records. He has started a total of 90 World Cups and took third place in the 2000/01 season in The Hague over 1500 m (best result). In 1999 he set the world record in Calgary in the small four-course (500 m, 3000 m, 1500 m and 5000 m).
In 1998, at the Olympic Games in Nagano, he took 20th place over 500 m, 16th place over 1000 m and 9th place over 1500 m. Four years later, in Salt Lake City, he finished 26th over 500m and 30th over 1000m. Due to a fall, he could not finish his 1500 m run. He qualified for the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin , but was unable to take part due to an injury.
Christian Breuer ended his career after the 2005/06 season. From 2004 to 2011 he was active spokesman for the German Speed Skating Association . In 2006 he also became a member of the Advisory Board for Active Members of the DOSB and a year later its chairman (athletes spokesman). He held this office, which also included membership in the Presidium of the DOSB, until September 2016.
Breuer is also an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play .
