Christian Chruxin

Christian Chruxin (born December 13, 1937 in Hanover ; † January 11, 2006 in Berlin ) was a German typographer and graphic artist . He was one of the systematically oriented designers of the Kassel school of poster art, book and magazine graphics .

From 1958 to 1962 he studied commercial graphics at the Werkkunstschule Kassel and the printing academy in Berlin .

In 1961, Arno Waldschmidt , Christian Chruxin, Dieter Lübeck , Albert Schindehütte and Fridjof Werner founded the artist group "situations 60" in Kassel . The group opened a gallery, but it was closed again after a day.

From 1961 he worked for publishers and others. a. Fietkau publishing house, publishing house new criticism , Edition Voltaire, Gerhard publishing house, Rowohlt publishing house . Chruxin has received numerous awards. Together with Joachim Krausse he was the editor of the book series "Projects and Models".

Chruxin taught television design at the University of the Arts in Berlin (today: University of the Arts ). He created sets, costume designs and directed television films. He designed the early 1970s, the Studio Architecture for the show Beat-Club of Radio Bremen .

For many years he worked for the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin, for whose appearance he was responsible.

Chruxin, who at times had his own gallery in Berlin, organized and designed numerous exhibitions.

Christian Chruxin died in January 2006 at the age of 68 in Berlin. His grave is on the state's own cemetery in Heerstraße in Berlin-Westend (grave location: I-Wald-6a / 6b).
