Christian Dabeler (artist name Reverend Ch. D. also Reverend Dabeler or Rev. Christian Dabeler ; * 1965 in Hamburg ) is a German musician , author , actor and producer .

Dabeler began in the early 1980s as a live musician on the Hammond organ at the end of the so-called Hamburg scene (not to be confused with the later Hamburg school ). At the age of 16 he played pub rock with various bands in Hamburg clubs such as Onkel Pö , Top Ten, Fabrik and Chikago. At the end of the 1980s he went on tour with his former classmate Andreas Dorau , and later with Rocko Schamoni . With the latter, a long collaboration developed for several albums and films.

In the 1990s he was on a European tour with Robert Forster from the Go-Betweens and often worked as a studio musician. He is u. a. to be heard on albums by Tony Sheridan , Bernd Begemann , Nationalgalerie , Fink and Dieter Thomas Kuhn , for whom he later also worked as a songwriter. He also participated in or produced avant-garde projects such as Die Stars or Universal Gonzalez .

From the mid-2000s to 2013 he formed the pop and chanson duo Klotz + Dabeler together with Almut Klotz , whose first album Menschen zu sich was released on ZickZack Records in November 2007 . The collaboration ended with the death of Almut Klotz.

Since 1999 Dabeler has also composed theater and film music. Among other things, he set Rainald Goetz 's play Jeff Koons to music (Deutsches Theater Berlin, 2004).

Since 2000, Dabeler has been writing essays, short stories and giving readings. 2005, his first, authored along with Almut Klotz novel was published From the Life of Manuel Zorn , 2008, the short story collection Tamara and consorts . In 2016, together with Aaron Klotz, he published the last manuscript of his late wife at Verbrecher Verlag, according to her request, and a weekly column appeared in the daily newspaper Junge Welt .

Between 1990 and 1992 Dabeler played in the underground films Rollo Aller! and Rollo Aller! 2 next to Rocko Schamoni the main role of Daddel . Directed by Henrik Peschel . The two main actors wrote the scripts together with Peschel and also produced the soundtrack. The films are considered a weird homage to Hark Bohm's classic North Sea is Mordsee . A third part was shot before 1994 and has not yet been released. In 2008 a fourth part was created, which was performed before part 3.

Between 2005 and 2010 he composed and produced, together with Helge Dube , the songs and music for Jan Georg Schütte's films and series . In 2010 he played a hit man in Torsten Stegmann's film Harrys Comeback , for which he also produced the soundtrack.

In 2015 he was involved in the musical parts of the new version for the Wim Wenders film Die Angst des Tormanns bei Penalty .

Since 2015 he has played the detective Hartmut Paulsen in the series Deichbullen , where he works as a screenplay co-author and writes songs and music for it.

Since 1999 Dabeler has composed the music for various theater productions. Together with Almut Klotz , he staged a radio play-like version of the novel From the Life of Manuel Zorn, illustrated by Felix Scheinberger (2005, Kammerspiele Berlin , 2006, Prater der Berliner Volksbühne ). At irregular intervals Dabeler was seen together with Jacques Palminger in the body painting performance The color as a weapon .
