Christian Dierks

Christian Dierks (born April 10, 1960 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) is a German lawyer , doctor and author . He is honorary professor for health system research at the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and founder of the internationally active German law firm Dierks + Company.

Life

Dierks studied medicine in Regensburg from 1979 to 1981 , and from 1981 to 1986 in Hamburg and Cape Town . He completed his doctoral thesis in andrology in 1987 with Carl Schirren . After his time as a medical officer and training as a ship's doctor and diving doctor at the Naval Medical Institute of the Navy in Kiel ( flotilla doctor d. R.), he studied law from 1988 to 1990 in Regensburg and Munich, where he obtained a legal doctorate from Horst Schüler in 1992 as a legal trainee -Springorummanufactured. In 1994 he settled as a lawyer in Munich and founded the law firm D + B in Berlin together with Thomas Bohle in 1997, which is one of the leading German law firms in medical law. In 1999 he completed his habilitation at the Humboldt University in Berlin. In 2018 he founded the law firm Dierks + Company.

Memberships / functions

Dierks has been a member of the German Society for Medical Law since 1990 , of which he was President from 2000 to 2008, and a member of the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics. In 1992 he founded the German-South African Lawyers Association, of which he was chairman until 1998. Dierks is an extraordinary member of the working group for endoprosthetics. Since 2002 he has been a member of the board of trustees of the Kaiserin Friedrich Foundation. In 2003 he was appointed to the working group for the introduction of the electronic health card at the Federal Ministry for Health and Social Security . Since 2004 he has been a member of the Berlin Scientific Society and the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth ISfTeH, and since 2010 a member of the Berlin / Brandenburg State Board of Trustees of the German Stifterverband . In 1999 he was awarded the German Pharmaceutical Law Prize from pmi-Verlag. Until 2002 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Antwerpes AG (today DocCheck AG). The German Medical Law Prize was awarded to him in 2007.

Content

At the intersection between medicine and law, Dierks advocates a competitive reorientation of the healthcare system, in which a concept for targeted innovation management and integration in particular contributes to the realization of rationalization reserves and patient-based demand decisions. One of his main focuses is the integration of information and communication technology into the supply. In the Forum Info 2000 committees, the Action Forum Telematics in Health Care and in the Legal Aspects Working Group of the European Health Telematics Association EHTEL, he advocated the further development of the legal framework for user-friendly health telematics, as part of his expert work also against overregulation in the field of drug supply used. With the health economists Stefan Felder and Jürgen Wasem he developed the concept of the mezzanine markets.
