Wolfgang Eisenmenger (born February 4, 1944 in Waldshut ) is a German forensic doctor , former university professor and former director of the Institute for Forensic Medicine at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Life

After graduating from high school in Waldshut in 1963 , Eisenmenger studied human medicine in Freiburg im Breisgau and Vienna . In Freiburg, Eisenmenger, who originally wanted to be a country doctor, was an assistant at the forensic medicine institute after completing his doctorate with a topic on infant and toddler development. From February 1972 he worked at the Institute for Forensic Medicine in Munich . In 1977 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on the age determination of cerebral cortical injuries. Having already one in Munich C3 received -Professur and reputation had declined to the University of Freiburg, he was in October 1989, succeeding Wolfgang Spann professor and director of the Munich Institute. During his time as director of the institute, there were many sensational murder cases, genetic analysis investigations into the descent of Kaspar Hauser and the final clarification of the identity of the remains of Martin Bormann . Eisenmenger retired at the end of March 2009. In the case of the kidnapping of Ursula Herrmann , he acted as an expert.

Eisenmenger is married and has two grown daughters.

Eisenmenger's successor as head of the institute was Matthias Graw on April 1, 2009 .
