Christian Doleschal (born April 27, 1988 in Kemnath ) is a German lawyer and politician . He has been a member of the European Parliament for the Christian-Social Union since 2019 .

Career

Doleschal grew up in the municipality of Brand (Upper Palatinate) in the Tirschenreuth district and attended the Otto Hahn Grammar School in Marktredwitz . He then studied law at the University of Bayreuth and the University of Regensburg . He has been working as a lawyer for a construction company since 2017. At the age of 19 he became a member of Brand's city ​​council . From 2008 to 2012 he was a member of the federal executive committee of the Junge Union Deutschlands and since 2012 district chairman of the JU Oberpfalz. On August 30, 2019, he was elected state chairman of the Junge Union Bayern as the successor to Hans Reichhart with 98% of the delegate votes. In addition, he is a member of the party executive committee and the CSU party reform commission . Doleschal is considered a bearer of hope and young talent of the CSU. He is married and has a family man.

Member of parliament and political positions

In May 2019 he was elected to the European Parliament for the Bavarian CSU and represents the Upper Palatinate administrative district there . In his home constituency, he was the only MP with 52.3% to win an absolute majority alongside top candidate Manfred Weber . There he is a full member of the Committee on Regional Development and the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. In addition, he is a deputy member of the committees for economics and currency as well as for the internal market and consumer protection. In addition, Doleschal is a member of the delegation to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia.

According to a study by the independent NGO Vote Watch , Doleschal is one of the most active members of the German delegation with an above-average attendance rate for votes and other parliamentary activities.

According to a report by Münchner Merkur , Doleschal, as the state chairman of the Junge Union, advocated intergenerational equity through debt reduction, climate protection and affordable housing. In the European Parliament, he has so far been committed to restoring the internal market in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic , especially with regard to the movement of goods and people in the German-Czech border region of his constituency. In the course of the reconstruction program of the EU Commission in the context of the pandemic, he emphasized that any aid money should not be used by member states to "plug old budget holes or to finance general social benefits." Doleschal is also a member of the parliamentary network "MPs Against Cancer" , which works for better research conditions for cancer therapies in the European Union.
