The Krebsbach is an approximately 5 km long orographically left tributary of the Nahe in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate . The brook flows into the municipality of Münster-Sarmsheim after about an eastern course.

geography

course

The Krebsbach flows on its east-south-east edge at about 278  m above sea level. NHN the Glockenwiesenweiher near Waldalgesheim , one of several still waters in a now protected mountain subsidence area. The westernmost lake in the lake district, a few meters higher, receives an inflow from the north-west from a short water course, which is a little north of the heating plant on the northern edge of Waldalgesheim at about 301  m above sea level. NHN arises; If one counted this interrupted upper course from the small stream section and the consequence of the lakes, the Krebsbach would have about 1.0 km more in length.

In any case, the Krebsbach itself flows through an herbaceous zone on the edge of the Glockenwiesenweiher , immediately crosses under the L 214 Waldalgesheim-Weiler near Bingen and then moves eastward in a dead straight ditch, sometimes accompanied by a narrow gallery. At the beginning it touches a small forest island on the left with another lake of the subsidence area, then it separates field plots on the left and right. About one kilometer below its origin, it reaches the southwestern edge of the settlement of Weiler bei Bingen . At the foot of the Diedesberg hill ridge, which extends southwards from the village, it turns south through some scraps of forest, but then soon resumes its eastward course around the southern spur of the Diedesberg, which is now always on or near the edge of a closed forest area in the south passes by.

Then he occurs after about half of his way to about 210  m above sea level. NHN digs into the forest around the Münsterer Kopf ( 300.8 m above sea level ) on the other side of the municipal boundary  to Münster-Sarmsheim near some agricultural buildings and digs a deep hollow in the forest on the first kilometer that follows, now southeast and more natural. At the south foot of the Munster head at only about 150  m above sea level. NHN he changes under the forest inn Königsschloss on the lower right slope back to east to north-east run. Vineyards are now located above the forest, which continues to occupy the immediate hollow, on the Langenberg in the north and on the Friedersberg in the south.

The Krebsbach then soon reaches the edge of the soft area of Münster-Sarmsheim and stretches between the banks that are still undeveloped, bordered by garden plots and long backyards, to the start of the Am Krebsbach strait. There it disappears in a hollow, which first under this street, then under Weyer Weg, Pfortestrasse and Zollstrasse creates a north arch around the local church. Finally, it runs under a settlement path , again called Am Krebsbach, to the Nahe Valley Railway , which runs next to the river , crosses it and then flows from the left and at about 80  m above sea level. NHN in the lower Nahe .

The Krebsbach is 4.9 km long from its outflow from the Glockenwiesenweiher, has a mean bed gradient of about 41 ‰ and flows out about 198 meters below it.

Catchment area

The Krebsbach has a catchment area of around 6.8 km², the vast majority of which, in natural terms, lies in the lower Nahe hill country and in its sub-areas Waldalgesheimer Kalkmulde , Horetsriegel and Outer Kreuznacher Loess hill country . It is only in the settlement area of Münster-Sarmsheim that a smaller proportion begins in the neighboring natural area of the lower Nahe level , which belongs entirely to its sub-area of the Nahe valley .

The streams competing in turn are from the mouth in the south up the short Sarmsheimer Graben , which flows a little above the Krebsbach itself and flows behind the Friedersberg . Beyond the rest of the southern watershed, the Trollbach also runs eastwards to the Nahe . On the south-west and west side of the catchment area, the long Hahnenbach takes the runoff to the opposite and leads it over the Guldenbach even higher than the two already mentioned to the Nahe. In the north lies the drainage area of the Kreuzbach , which flows into the Rhine a little below the Nahe in the Binger Loch. In the northeast, at the other end of Weiler bei Bingen, the Mühbach rises , which feeds the Nahe a little further down the Krebsbach.
