Christian Ernst Simonetti (born October 30, 1700 in Berlin , † January 20, 1782 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a Lutheran theologian.

Live and act

Simonetti's living conditions are only roughly known. He was born in Berlin in 1700 as the son of the builder and plasterer Giovanni Simonetti from Graubünden and his wife Euphrosine Hoffkuntz. First he worked as a deacon at St. Nikolai in Quedlinburg , where he took over his position as court preacher after Georg Heinrich Ribow (1703–1774) left for Göttingen in 1736. On January 25, 1735, in Halberstadt, he married Johanna Sophia Catharina Rätzel, the daughter of the councilor, who was born there.

In 1738 he went to Göttingen and received a professorship in philosophy at the Göttingen University , which had been founded three years earlier . In 1740 he was introduced to the office of pastor of the Göttingen St. Jacobi Church and in 1746 he was appointed associate professor of theology. After a further eight years in Göttingen, he was dismissed at his own request in 1754, then initially resided in Berlin without an office and finally received an appointment as pastor and associate professor in Frankfurt (Oder) , where he worked until the end of his life.

In the sixteen years of his activity in Göttingen, Simonetti wrote a number of writings, mostly theological in content.
