Christian Erwig (born December 16, 1983 in Dorsten ) is a German football player and coach .

Career

Christian Erwig played in his youth with JSG Hülsten / Maria Veen , Westfalia Groß-Reken , Westfalia Gemen and Preußen Münster before he switched to SuS Stadtlohn in 2003. He stayed there for only a year and then moved to SV Schermbeck . In Schermbeck he was the top scorer in the Oberliga Westfalen with 19 goals and moved to FC Schalke 04 .

Erwig played for Schalke in preparation for the 2005/06 season on his first day at work, July 1, 2005, in a friendly with the Bundesliga professionals in Arnsberg. He tore a cruciate ligament that caused him to be out for the next nine months. Then he became a regular in the second team again. He scored six goals in the last five games before the 2006/07 winter break.

In February 2007 Erwig was raised to the professional squad. He made his Bundesliga debut on February 25, 2007 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen when he came on for Halil Altıntop in the 86th minute . For the 2007/08 season Erwig moved to the Regionalliga Nord at Fortuna Düsseldorf . After only one season he returned to the second team of FC Schalke 04.

For the 2010/11 season he moved to the regional league team Sportfreunde Lotte , where he signed a two-year contract. But after just one year Erwig decided to change clubs again and in August 2011 he joined VfB Hüls in the NRW League, which he scored with 21 goals in 24 games for promotion to the Regionalliga West . In the 2012/13 regional league season Erwig landed second on the top scorer list with 19 goals, but he was unable to prevent VfB Hüls from being relegated. He then joined the city rivals TSV Marl-Hüls in July 2013 . He shot the club in the 2014/15 season with 27 goals for promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen. After playing for Marl-Hüls in the first half of 2015/16 , Erwig moved to his former club SuS Stadtlohn during the winter break . Then he went to the district league for SC Reken , for which he played in 14 league games in the 2016/17 season and scored four goals. In the following season 2017/18 he took over the position of coach of the regional league team and has been appearing as a player- coach ever since .
