Christian Foppa

Christian Foppa (born December 18, 1880 in Vignogn ; † October 26, 1973 there ; authorized to live there ) was a Swiss politician ( KVP ).

Life

The Catholic baptized Christian Foppa, son of farmer and Landamman Giachen Giusep Foppa and its from Mon originating Spouse Onna Maria (born Gallin), completed a commercial apprenticeship in Chur . He then worked professionally as a postman and farmer in Vignogn.

Foppa has belonged to the Swiss Conservative People's Party (KVP) since it was founded in 1912, and from 1970 to the Christian Democratic People's Party (CVP). He served at the cantonal level from 1910 to 1928 in the Grisons Grand Council , where he held the office of professional president in 1921. From 1911 to 1917 he was the governor of the Lugnez district . He also sat in the district and district court for 30 years. In 1925 the people elected him to the National Council , from which he resigned in 1939.

Christian Foppa initiated the Lugnez health insurance company, which he chaired from 1918 to 1955. He was one of the founding members of Uniun purila Surselva, which he chaired from 1927 to 1946. Christian Foppa held other presidential offices from 1940 to 1952 in the Bündner Bauernverband and from 1944 to 1963 in the Bauernhilfskasse. From 1935 to 1960 he was a member of the board of the Swiss Milk Association (ZVSM), where he initiated the incorporation of the Graubünden alpine and village dairies.

Christian Foppa was married to Maria Ursula, née Coray, from Laax . He died in 1973, two months before the age of 93, in his home town of Vignogn.
